River Safari and Bukit Timah Railway

River Safari is one of the parks under Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) company and it officially opened on 28 February 2014, the same day we visited the park. It replicates the eco-systems of famous rivers around the world such as Nile, Congo, Mississippi, Ganges, Mekong and Yangtze rivers. It is also the home of the two Giant Pandas Jia Jia & Kai Kai.

The boat and the crocodile at the entrance really define the name of the park well.

Located at Upper Selatar Reservior, the park gives a secluded forest feel.

The adventures of Monkey and Dolphin.

Many of the exhibits are like this enclosure with see-through glass.

When we first went over the Pandas weren't around so we decided to try the iconic Panda Pau at Mama Panda Kitchen. There's the red bean and chocolate custard flavour, both at $2.90 each. The taste was average but the shop does offer a variety of mains and sides.

The highlight of the trip is of course the appearance of the two Giant Pandas.
Jia Jia was spotted munching away then striding back and forth after her meal while Kai Kai was just .. sleeping throughout.

Happened to bump into the Panda Mascots when we're leaving!

Here's a vlog of our trip to River Safari which includes the Squirrel Monkey Forest and the Amazon River Quest boat ride.

The boat ride is relatively short and it's difficult to spot some of the animals along the river. Also, you can choose not to take the front seats if you do not want to be splashed! River Safari now charges for the boat ride ($5 for adults and $3 for children).

If you plan on visiting River Safari, do consider getting the Park Hopper bundles (where you can choose to visit any or all of the 3 other parks - Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo and Night Safari) at a cheaper price. Or you can just visit any of the parks on your birthday for free!

Headed on to Bukit Timah Railway afterwards (have always been wanting to go there for photo taking so I finally dragged him there)

There are two railway bridges along Bukit Timah and they offer a unique backdrop for photos here in Singapore. The one we went to is beside railmall and it is easily accessible.

We reached the place around evening and the sun rays provide us a natural lighting which enhanced the quality of our photos. It feels like there's a filter added to your photos.

On the side note, if you're hungry you can also head towards railmail for their eateries too!
